Inner Development Goals (IDGs) for Ignite Global Coaching Community

Delve into the integration of IDGs with coaching and examining their combined transformative impact on organizational success

About Inner Development Goals (IDGs)

In 2015, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) set a global agenda to create a sustainable world by 2030, focusing on major issues like climate change, poverty, and public health. Despite clear goals, progress has been slow. While we know the necessary technical solutions and public policies, we overlook the crucial role of personal and collective inner development capacities to effectively address these complexities. There is an urgent need to enhance our collective ability to manage uncertainty, embrace contradictions, and develop compassionate, unified solutions. Without fostering foundational human values and leadership skills, efforts to combat global challenges risk being fragmented and ineffective.

The Inner Development Goals (IDGs) framework was designed in 2020 by a Norwegian NGO. Grounded in interdisciplinary research and supported by corporates like Google and Ikea, it is backed by insights from thought leaders like Peter Senge and Robert Kegan. It includes five dimensions and 23 critical skills crucial for personal and collective growth, such as inner compass, co-creation skills, complexity awareness, long-term orientation and perseverance.

Being, Thinking, Relating, Collaborating, and Acting – a unified catalyst for global change.

The IDG framework simplifies the complex field of inner development offering unified visual language to identify, understand, and cultivate the inner skills essential for sustainable development.  The aim is to develop our collective capacity for effective decisions that address complex challenges and contribute meaningfully towards achieving a sustainable and equitable world.

For business coaches in the Ignite Global Community, IDGs are especially relevant as the framework potential to become a corporate governance/ESG tool and therefore a guiding instrument for directors and leaders during cultural, digital, and organizational transformations.   In this workshop, we will delve into the integration of IDGs with coaching and examine their combined transformative impact on organizational success. We will also discuss how these practices are reshaping the role of coaches, setting new expectations for leadership development in dynamic and diverse environments.
